- If your yarn is pooling in a way you don’t like you have a couple of options.
- You can divide your yarn into 2 working balls/cakes and alternate each one on every row.
- The simplest thing to do is just to add or subtract 2 or more stitches. Usually this can make a big difference.
- Sometimes, even trying both options, your yarn will pool no matter what for the project you are doing. Chances are, if you sized up or down, it wouldn’t pool. That isn’t always an option though. If it pools no matter what – well you can either live with the pooling, or choose a different yarn. It’s really just the nature of varigated yarns.
- When you want to add a trim yarn in a different stitch pattern ( say you are knitting stockinette pants and want a seed stitch cuff), change to your trim yarn and work one row of stockinette on the first row/round, and start your stitch pattern on the next row/round. This will give the cuff a nice clean look.
- To created ‘jogless stripes’ in the round, switch to your new color and knit the first round normally. When you come back around to the first stitch of the round, pick up the stitch BELOW the first round (so that you will have the old color and the new color together) and knit it together with the new color
