Update

It’s taking just a bit longer than I expected to get this next stocking up.  I anticipated doing it in a few batches, but looks like I’ll just list it all at the same time.    It’s a bit harder during the week to get this stuff done – so I’m not sure how soon it will be done.  I have 5 skeins left to re-skein, and then label 5 lbs of fiber/roving.  That’s probably 2-3 days right there, and another day to list.

So why exactly am I closing?

I decided to go ahead and let everyone in on the ’secret’.  I know I’d be dying to know if I weren’t the owner here, even though I’d know I didn’t NEED to know ;)

My husband Richard, has lost all overtime hours at work once the recession started.  We depend heavily on those hours to pay our bills, namely, our mortgage.  We’ve finally reached a point to start reducing bills and make any money we can.  This includes selling off some of my precious and much loved fiber stash, and trying to dye & sell all remaining undyed fiber.

Because of this great need, I am discounting items AND offering a coupon code on my Hyena Cart. (15off) So everyone wins!

I will miss the internet and doing this dye thing greatly, but at this point there is really no choice.  I WILL be back one day … I just don’t know when that will be.  Hugs all, and thanks for the memories!

Keep an eye on my Hyena Cart for a Fish Pond & Swamp Sunset stocking!

This is good-bye ..

Unfortunately.

Circumstances are forcing me to quit selling for now, and leave the internet as well.

I will be stocking a few items in my shop, at the same 15% discount I had for the re-opening of my shop.  I have a couple of customs available, so if you ever wanted one of my colorways on yarn or roving, now is your last chance.

As of right now I have some Asher’s Rainbow & Fish Pond, and also an All Mixed Up.  I plan to do a few more, but all of this will only be available for a short time.  So grab what you can now, before it’s gone!

Matchbook notes – a tutorial

I saw these little notepads somewhere on the ‘net and have since wanted to make them to include in my Laginappe bags.  So off I went to Michael’s today to purchase scrapbooking paper (among other things lol)

So to start, gather up the following supplies:

  • Scrapbook paper (I bought 3 sheets of 12×12 & it yielded 38 books)
  • Colored or plain copy paper, or card stock.
  • Scissors or paper trimmer
  • Staples & stapler
  • Ink Pen
  • Optional:  ink pad & stamp
Took the pic after I cut everything up, whoops!

Took the pic after I cut everything up, whoops!

1.   Cut your scrapbook paper into 2.5 inch wide strips.

2.   Cut your scrapbook strips again, this time into strips 5 inches long.

3.   Now mark your 5 inch strips at 2 inches,  and 4.5 inches (not marked in this photo)

4.   Cut your paper/card stock  into 2 inch wide strips, then into 2.5 inch     note paper.

5.   Fold your scrapbook strips at the marked points, to create the matchbook cover.

6.  If you are stamping your matchbook on the inside cover, do so now.

7.  Place 4-8 pieces of note paper into the smaller .5 inch fold of the cover.  Center, and staple in place.

8.  Viola!  Done!  So easy and so cute!  Pat yourself on the back ;)

Just for kicks, Abby was taking pictures while I made mine, so you even get to see me working!

And for some cuteness, here are the kids enjoying their 4th of July cupcakes.

And lastly, my new PVC swift that I made from this tutorial.  I built  it to go to 3 yards.
