I’m ba-aack!

Etsy

What I have up is only about a third of what I have to put up, I have a few more fibers to stock and yarns.  I plan to get more, if not all of it up today.

I was just looking through my sidebar and links, to see what needed to be corrected, because after all, apparently it’s been over a year that I’ve been selling judging by my archives…  Wait.  Did I just say a year?  And I let it pass me by!  I think this may call for a giveaway or special stocking or something….need to think on this ;)

Tentative re-opening date-ish

Matthew should be going into pre-kindergarden next year (read: Fall 2011, not Fall 2010) So I *think* that is around when I will re-open.  I am slowly collecting new fibers and yarns after having purged/dyed all my remaining stock.  I have a bin full of stock still that never sold, but no more undyed stuff.  Right now I have about 2 lb BFL yarn, 3 lbs of Peace Fleece yarn, and many many lbs of Australian merino roving and many many lbs of Bamboo roving.

I am also pretty decided that I will just sell on Etsy, and not on Hyena Cart anymore.  I just really wasn’t getting the sales on Hyena Cart, especially since I dye more fiber than yarn.

The idea just occurs to me to try to have some sort of Spring/Summer sale soon, with remaining stock, to fund buying different fibers.  I really want to get some angora blends (roving), more worsted yarns, sport & fingering as well.  We shall see…

Cutting back

Just a note that I’m cutting back on production (which wasn’t all that much to begin with lol).  This break will likely last until my youngest is in school.  I just can’t keep up with life and all that goes with it, and a business.

Occasionally I may have one or two new instock things to list.

I can still take in custom orders – I have no yarn available but will have Australian Merino roving to work with.  So if you would like a custom order, it will need to be a your yarn, my dye type of deal.

Yarn dyeing is $2 per oz.  If you want multiple skeins in the end product, the charge is $1 extra for rewinding.  Say you have a huge 12 oz hank you want dyed, and you want it back to you in 3 skeins, that will cost you $3 extra.  Center pull ball winding is always free of charge.

Fiber dyeing is $3 per oz.  It is slightly higher than yarn because of the delicate nature of unspun fibers, it needs much more gentle care than that of yarn.

Your fiber my wheel orders will depend on yardage.  .12 a yard for your fiber.  I have fiber in stock and dyed, you will need to inquire about that though.  Price on my fiber is dependent on fiber type.  All inquiries are welcome.

Turn around time on all custom orders can be anywhere from 2-4 weeks.

Stocking tomorrow!

Just a quick note that I am stocking a few things on my main HC tomorrow, and also Saturday! And check out http://www.gypsyforest.com while you’re at it too ;)

Stocking at Bella Tesori!

Come and check out the wonderful $10 stocking tomorrow at Bella Tesori! This is my first stocking with them and I’m so excited! There are some really great deals going on.

We stock tomorrow, November 10, at 10AM EST. There are at least 10 stores, with items priced at $10! I have a drawing that will last 10 hours for 2 oz of handspun, and it’s really a steal!

Come visit us at http://hyenacart.com/BellaTesori/

Update

It’s taking just a bit longer than I expected to get this next stocking up.  I anticipated doing it in a few batches, but looks like I’ll just list it all at the same time.    It’s a bit harder during the week to get this stuff done – so I’m not sure how soon it will be done.  I have 5 skeins left to re-skein, and then label 5 lbs of fiber/roving.  That’s probably 2-3 days right there, and another day to list.

So why exactly am I closing?

I decided to go ahead and let everyone in on the ’secret’.  I know I’d be dying to know if I weren’t the owner here, even though I’d know I didn’t NEED to know ;)

My husband Richard, has lost all overtime hours at work once the recession started.  We depend heavily on those hours to pay our bills, namely, our mortgage.  We’ve finally reached a point to start reducing bills and make any money we can.  This includes selling off some of my precious and much loved fiber stash, and trying to dye & sell all remaining undyed fiber.

Because of this great need, I am discounting items AND offering a coupon code on my Hyena Cart. (15off) So everyone wins!

I will miss the internet and doing this dye thing greatly, but at this point there is really no choice.  I WILL be back one day … I just don’t know when that will be.  Hugs all, and thanks for the memories!

Keep an eye on my Hyena Cart for a Fish Pond & Swamp Sunset stocking!

This is good-bye ..

Unfortunately.

Circumstances are forcing me to quit selling for now, and leave the internet as well.

I will be stocking a few items in my shop, at the same 15% discount I had for the re-opening of my shop.  I have a couple of customs available, so if you ever wanted one of my colorways on yarn or roving, now is your last chance.

As of right now I have some Asher’s Rainbow & Fish Pond, and also an All Mixed Up.  I plan to do a few more, but all of this will only be available for a short time.  So grab what you can now, before it’s gone!

My head is spinning

I am in a bit of shock at how well my first stocking on my HC went … it was a huge success!  I’m so grateful to every one of my customers.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Our a/c is fixed!  The first repair guy didn’t know what he was doing apparantly cause it was not the blower that was the problem, but the relay strip/switch.  I finally found my thermometer and it had been 95F in the house!  :faint:  It took from 11:30am to about midnight last night to cool it down to 75.  I also realized I couldn’t really use my sales to help pay for it, as I need to hang onto the money while my customers recieve their goods.  Silly rookie mistake … lol.  Ah well, this way when all is said and done I will have the funds to buy more yarn to dye!

I need more Marr Haven, but unfortunately Barb at MH says she doesn’t anticipate having any more natural colored yarn in stock again :(   I am ordering a little bit of the lighter grey and heather to try out, to see if it works ok wih the colorways.  I am thinking it will, as I found the natural doesn’t take the dye vibrantly, but results in softer, more muted colors.  In addition to getting more Rambo stock (I love that nickname for the yarn!) I’m planning on placing orders for organic merino and stitch marker supplies.  I am tentalively planning on stocking the 25th of every month.  I may go sooner, depending on how the kids let me work :)

After I publish this post, I’m going to add a new page to the blog, with videos.  The two I made have been well-recieved and I’ve been asked to make more .. so more it is :)   Please request what you would like to see.  In addition to the plying one, I also made a wash n’ whack video, which you can see here.  It is a .wmv file, which plays with a Windows Media Player.

Re-opening is set for tomorrow!

I’m sorry this is late notice, but I’m kind of forced to re-open now due to some unhappy circumstances, I’m re-opening before I anticipated.  I had hoped to get a bit more stock in, but that will all come later!

Unfortunately our central a/c blower motor broke, and it can’t be repaired until next week!  We’re in drought-like conditions now (I’m not sure if it’s officially a drought) but it hasn’t rained in at least 2 weeks,  and our heat index has been reaching 110 for the past 4 days.  Horrible, horrible time for the a/c to die on us!

As it is my grand re-opening, (and I really need the moo-lah lol) everything will be discounted 15%, there will be an auction and a FFS lotto!  Please, tell your friends!  I will be stocking all night tonight, and will be ready to go live at 10 AM tomorrow on my Hyena Cart.
